Stephen Thompson, also known as “Wonderboy,” is an American professional mixed martial artist and former professional kickboxer. He was born on February 11, 1983, in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Thompson started training in martial arts at a young age, under the guidance of his father, who is a black belt in multiple disciplines. He went on to become a successful kickboxer, winning numerous titles in organizations such as the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) and the World Kickboxing Association (WKA).
In 2010, Thompson transitioned to mixed martial arts and signed with the UFC in 2012. He quickly gained a reputation as a striker, with his unorthodox style and spinning kicks becoming a trademark. He has notable wins over top fighters such as Johny Hendricks, Jorge Masvidal, and Vicente Luque.
Thompson is also known for his humble and respectful demeanor outside the octagon, as well as his involvement in his family’s martial arts school, Upstate Karate, where he teaches alongside his father and brother.
In addition to his fighting career, Thompson has appeared in films and television shows, such as “Wonder Woman 1984” and “The Ultimate Fighter.” He is also known for his love of music and has released several singles as a singer-songwriter.
