Punkie Johnson is an American comedian, writer, and actress. She was born on April 29, 1984, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in Mississippi. Johnson started her career in comedy in 2013, performing at open mics and comedy clubs in Los Angeles.
She has appeared on several TV shows, including “Space Force,” “Corporate,” “Adam Ruins Everything,” and “Bill Burr Presents: The Ringers.” Johnson is also a writer for the BET series “The Ms. Pat Show,” and has written for the 2021 Academy Awards ceremony.
In 2021, Johnson joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” as a featured player for the show’s 47th season. She is the first openly gay Black woman to join the cast of the long-running sketch comedy show.
