Mark Greaney is an American author known for his thriller novels, particularly for his Gray Man series featuring the character Court Gentry, a former CIA operative turned international assassin. Greaney was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968 and grew up in a military family, living in several different states and countries.
Greaney attended the University of Memphis, where he studied political science and international relations. After college, he worked as a bartender, clerk, and political consultant before deciding to pursue a career as a writer. His first novel, “The Gray Man,” was published in 2009 and was a critical and commercial success, leading to a series of sequels featuring the same character.
In addition to his Gray Man series, Greaney has also written several novels in the Jack Ryan series, continuing the franchise created by Tom Clancy. He has also worked on other literary projects, including co-authoring the thriller “Red Metal” with Lieutenant Colonel H. Ripley Rawlings IV, which was published in 2019.
Overall, Greaney is known for his fast-paced, action-packed thrillers that often feature complex international plots and a strong sense of authenticity and attention to detail. He currently lives in Memphis with his wife and three children.
