Andy Norman is an American philosopher, writer, and public intellectual. He is the director of the Humanism Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University, where he also teaches courses in philosophy, communication, and decision-making.

Norman is known for his work on critical thinking, rationality, and cognitive science. He has authored several books, including “Mental Immunity: Infectious Ideas, Mind Parasites, and the Search for a Better Way to Think” and “On Truth and Trust: Thinking Differently About Influence and Power.” In his writing and research, Norman explores how people form beliefs and how they can improve their thinking and decision-making skills.

In addition to his academic work, Norman is also a public speaker and has given talks at various conferences and events. He is a frequent commentator in the media, writing opinion pieces and giving interviews on topics related to critical thinking, cognitive biases, and intellectual humility.

Norman received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and has held academic positions at several universities, including American University and Duke University.
